Operations Executive
Rate: £400 p/d (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Working pattern: Full time hours, 1 day per week on site in the East of England
Contract Length: 3-6 months with possibility of extension
About the role
This role supports the growth and visibility of a regional innovation and technology cluster. You’ll help build a thriving network of businesses, researchers and public-sector partners, promote the region’s technical capabilities, and drive activity that strengthens the area’s role within the wider UK innovation ecosystem.
Day to day, you’ll connect organisations, support collaborative projects, coordinate communications activity, and help deliver initiatives that unlock innovation, investment and economic opportunity.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, manage and maintain relationships with cluster members, industry partners, academic organisations and government stakeholders
- Support the development and delivery of projects that accelerate innovation, open supply-chain opportunities and strengthen the regional technology sector
- Coordinate marketing, communications and events, including website updates, newsletters, workshops and promotional activities
- Help identify and advance investment opportunities and support multi-partner funding bids
- Provide operational and administrative support to senior leadership, including meetings, reporting and record-keeping
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for the cluster, sharing opportunities and promoting collaboration across the region
Essential criteria
- Experience working in a complex organisation or partnership environment, ideally within economic development, innovation, technology or related sector.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and work confidently across industry, academia and government.
- Experience supporting or delivering projects or programmes, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of communications and marketing, including social media, website content and event coordination.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise information and present to different audiences.
- Ability to work proactively and independently, managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
